Arleigh Movitz
I came to PROFILE in hopes that the organization would help me get a job that allows me to use my 'jack-of-all-trades' background. Currently I am a software test engineer, a website developer, a volunteer firefighter and a certified Hazmat Specialist, but have also done graphic design and industrial electrical and plumbing maintenance. My education is in art, design, and engineering. Hobbies include working on the computer, reading, photography, stained glass, and my cats. I decided to come over the hill to PROFILE rather than the closer Promatch in Sunnyvale because I like the size, attitude and environment of PROFILE better, and I hope eventually to relocate to this area.
Here at PROFILE I've found that specialties I can contribute to the organization include being a Mac reference at the Tech Hour, and unjamming the copy machine.
Tending to be an individual contributor and not a leader/manager by nature, I was pleasantly surprised to be recognized as Member-of-the-Month. I look forward to the day I bring in plates of cookies, but until then, I'm enjoying the company and meeting many new acquaintances.

Deborah Phoenix
I love PROFILE. Since I’ve been here, I’ve grown in areas I never imagined I could – especially in customer service and in networking with others. Greeting, processing, and training new members has been the most rewarding aspect of my work here.
About the work I do: I have significant experience in all aspects of Accounting, Full Charge Bookkeeping, Budgets, and Finance.
My greatest strengths lie in my abilities to “see the bigger picture, ”and in my innate curiosity. I am a prescient forecaster, researcher, analyzer, and reconciliation specialist. All of these skills are invaluable tools of the trade and keys to my long line of successes.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to work at PROFILE. I’ve witnessed so many shattered lives become whole again through the various workshops and networking opportunities provided here. We are a family of people drawn together with a common purpose. To me, PROFILE is a program of empowerment. And I am honored to contribute any way I can to this organization.
To the dedicated professionals here at PROFILE, thanks for all that you do and have done.

Barbara Witkowski
Barbara Witkowski, a transplant from the East Coast, has thrived on the Central Coast of California since the 90s and enjoys keeping busy -- I'm looking for full time work since February, and joined PROFILE Santa Cruz in April of 2009. Due to a lay-off from ecolution, inc., an environmentally focused manufacturer and importer of textile products where I was employed for almost five years, I am now exploring new and different opportunities as I seek steady employment in the Santa Cruz area. I have considerable experience in office management and administration with many valuable skills including proficiency in accounting, desktop publishing, and website maintenance, and I'm eager to return to the workforce. My spare time finds me doing things I enjoy most, tending flowers and naturalized landscape in a small backyard garden, caring for and entertaining my two feline companions, and enjoying time with friends and family. Other than having a passion for my work, I also like to create original digital artwork, and enjoy photography, fine arts, cycling, and music.
What a nice surprise to be selected as Member-of-the-Month! I could never have achieved this without each and every member of PROFILE Santa Cruz, and have you all to thank.

Barbara Burkhart
Joined PROFILE in 2002 after being laid off from various positions in a non-profit for 18 years! Became co-director of PROFILE's Operations Department and got a job six-months later...After a six-month stint as a receptionist, was laid off due to personnel cutbacks. Then I joined PROFILE's Training Department & spent year and half year waiting for the next job! After year and half as an event Coordinator for the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce I was back pounding the pavement. Then I landed a very part-time job working for Values Technology as "girl Friday" & event coordinator. I'm on call there, but it's not very steady. Meanwhile I love doing training & mentoring others doing their job search. My hobbies are cooking, knitting & restoring my 1868 Victorian Greek revival home.
